Mass & Holy Communion!

The chalice of benediction and the bread which we break: the body of the Lord.
"Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of Man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you." "He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed: and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me,
and I in him."

John 6: 52-54

Scriptural Basis For The Holy Catholic Mass ~ The Holy Catholic Mass is not only fully backed by the scriptures, but it was instituted by Christ Himself at the Last Supper. We are commanded by Christ to perpetually remember him through the continued celebration of The Mass until the end of time...!

The Real Presence Association
~ The Holy Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic faith.  There is no greater manefestation of God's love for mankind than the Jesus truly present in the Holy Eucharist.   There is no greater truth or mystery contained in any other church that exists here on earth! A challege to anyone not fully convinced - to read through this wonderful website and still not believe in the Real Presence...!!  Do not doubt, but believe...

Introduction to the Eucharist ~ (New Advent) The name given to the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar its twofold aspect of sacrament and Sacrifice of Mass, and in which Jesus Christ is truly present under the bread and wine.

The Eucharist as a Sacrament ~ (New Advent) Since Christ is present under the appearances of bread and wine in a sacramental way, the Blessed Eucharist is unquestionably a sacrament of the Church.

The Eucharist as a Sacrifice ~ (New Advent) The word Mass (missa) first established itself as the general designation for the Eucharistic Sacrifice in the West after the time of Pope Gregory the Great (d.604), the early Church having used the expression the "breaking of bread" (fractio panis) or "liturgy" (Acts 13:2, leitourgountes); the Greek Church has employed the latter name for almost sixteen centuries.

The Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist ~ (New Advent) The Real Presence, which is, indeed, the central dogma; the several allied dogmas grouped about it, namely: Totality of Presence, Transubstantiation, Permanence of Presence and the Adorableness of the Eucharist.

Early Symbols of the Eucharist ~ Among the symbols employed by the Christians of the first ages in decorating their tombs, those which relate to the Eucharist hold a place of the first  importance. The monuments of greatest consequence on which these symbols are depicted exist, principally, in the subterranean cemeteries of early Christian Rome, better known as the Roman catacombs.

The Christian Catacombs of Rome ~ Extensive material, in separate sections, dealing with this fascinating and largely unknown topic.

The Sacrifice of the Mass ~ (New Advent) Before dealing with the proofs of revelation afforded by the Bible and tradition, certain preliminary points must first be decided. Of these the most important is  that the Church intends the Mass to be regarded as a "true and proper sacrifice",  and will not tolerate the idea that the sacrifice is identical with Holy Communion. That is the sense of a clause from the Council of Trent (Sess. XXII, can. 1): "If any one saith that in the Mass a true and proper sacrifice is not offered to God; or, that to be offered is nothing else but that Christ is given us to eat; let him be anathema" (Denzinger, "Enchir.", 10th ed. 1908, n. 948)

The Latin Liturgy Association Home Page ~ Founded in 1975 to promote the use of Latin as appropriate in the liturgies of the Church. The full text of both the Vatican II Rite Mass (Novus Ordo) and the Traditional Latin Mass (Tridentine Rite). Also offers traditional prayers of the Catholic Church in Latin.

The Indult Tridentine Rite of Mass ~ Prior to the promulgation of the Novus Ordo Missae (New Order of Mass) by Pope Paul VI in 1970, the whole of the Roman or Latin Rite used the old Missale Romanum, which contains a rite that had existed for nearly two thousand years. This rite of Mass has been called the Tridentine rite since the introduction of the New Mass.

A Very Simple Guide to the Catholic Mass ~ Are you about to attend a Catholic Mass for the first time? Why do Catholics bounce on one knee? Why do Catholics scratch their heads before the Gospel Reading? Why does the priest sniff the altar? These questions and more are answered for you in a straight forward guide for you.

The Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist ~ In many ways, Our Lord, is calling us to worship and receive Him in the Eucharist. He speaks this desire in many ways: through the Pope and the Magesterium of the Church, in the Bible (Jn. 6), through his Blessed Mother in approved Marian apparitions, through the testimonies of Saints and Martyrs, through Eucharistic miracles, through Church approved messages given by Jesus by Divine Revelation, through our souls who long for Jesus in Communion, and through our suffering world which is in much need of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. Unfortunately many of us disbelieve or have grown indifferent towards Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

Communion In the Hand: Forbidden? ~ The common practice here in America of distributing Holy Communion in the hand is in fact impossible to justify according to the existing Laws of the Church.  It is only allowed in exceptional circumstances and was NOT common practice at any time in the history of the Church.  Priests who's conciences do not permit them to distribute Communion in the hand have been persecuted and find themselves at odds with their liberal bishops.

ALTAR GIRLS? ~ (EWTN) Sermon given by Rev. Peter R. Pilsner. "...the tradition of having boys serve at the altar was a good
tradition -- to use the words of the Vatican Statement, "a 'noble tradition' that has led to priestly vocations and must continue to be
supported." It was good for the priests, and good for the boys."

Adoration ~ It is the logical consequence of the real and permanent presence of Christ in the Eucharist. We now will take some time for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Adoration, from Latin "ad os" means "to take one’s hand to one’s mouth", to send a little kiss to your beloved. That is what we are going to do tonight, with or without a gesture; the beloved is Jesus-Host.
